Commonwealth Games is a multi-sport event that takes place among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The best in the world compete together in the games, which is also referred to as friendly games. It was first held in 1930 and has been conducting every four years, since. India has had a strong showing in the Commonwealth Games and even hosted the event in 2010.

The Australian population is small but this small wonderful population keep producing sportspersons every year and keep increasing their medal tally across all sporting events. They have got a total of 2522 medals with 974 Gold, 807 silver and 741 Bronze. The England Team is pretty similar to Australia, as far Commonwealth Games’ importance in the nation is concerned. They have great sporting facilities and get proper funding and grants to take part in global events like the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. England have 745 Gold Medals, 749 Silver Medals and 736 Bronze Medals in the Commonwealth Games. They also have a rich history in the Commonwealth games and keep bettering their records every year.

The Canadian Team also has a great interest and passion for sports and have produced great athletes over the years. Though this is a nation which is small in terms of size but still manage to fetch medals in different sports. They have a total of 1601 medals in their kitty, including 495 Gold medals , 532 Silver medals and 574 Bronze medals as a nation.
4. New Zealand:
The New Zeeland contingent are pretty small, looking at the size of the nation but have a rich history in sports. They are also amazing at winning a lot of medals and have done great in Commonwealth Games history. They have a total of 683 medals, which consist of 172 Gold medals , 227 Silver Medals, and 29 Bronze. They are currently at fourth place in the list.

India currently sit fifth in this list. India have great aspirations as a sporting country and aim to get to a stage where they can compete and be as good as the top nations in the world. At present, a lot of importance and grants have been given to sports such as shooting, Boxing.
Over the years, the importance has been given to other sports besides Cricket as well. They have a total of 516 medals at the Commonwealth Games, which consist of 186 Gold medals, 178 silver medals, and 152 Bronze medals. They have 186 Gold Medals as a nation.
