The wait for the Bangalore team’s ever-elusive Indian T20 League title didn’t end in the recently concluded 15th season. They qualified for the playoffs, and they won the Eliminator game against Lucknow as well. However, they failed to win Qualifier 2, and lost to Rajasthan. Their journey of reaching the playoffs was fascinating. They started well after winning five out of seven games but went on to lose three games in a row.
This made it incredibly hard for the three-time finalists to reach the playoffs. They needed to win their remaining four games to qualify for the top four clashes. They did win three out of those games and reached the knockouts. However, the team had so many issues to deal with. Their batting was too dependent on a few players and it was the same in the bowling department.
In this listicle, we will discuss the three players who might be released next year.
Three players who might be released next year
- Anuj Rawat
The left-hander got eight opportunities to showcase his talent but failed to make a mark. He could only muster 129 runs at an average of 16.13 and a strike rate of 109.32 including the highest score of 66 runs. He was dropped and out of form, Virat Kohli had to open the innings. The Uttarakhand player’s services might not be needed as the team might see towards Kohli to open the innings with Du Plessis.
2. Karn Sharma
The alleged ‘Lucky Player’ for teams in the cash-rich league couldn’t turn around the luck for the Bangalore-based franchise. He has been part of teams such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai in seasons 2016, 2017, and 2018. In these years, he didn’t play too many games for those teams. As far as the team combinations are considered, he isn’t a genuine wicket-taker which was evident with the fact that he didn’t play a single game this year. Wanindu Hasaranga, who was the second-highest wicket-taker in the season, cemented his place with his performances. Sharma might not feature in the team next year.
3. Luvnith Sisodia
The wicketkeeper batter didn’t feature in any games before being ruled out due to injury in the middle of the season. The reason for him to not play is the rejuvenated skills of wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik. Also, the slots in the lower middle-order are filled with players such as Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed which makes it difficult for him to be in the playing XI next year as well.
