
Women’s domestic T20 competition in Australia, the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022-23 season began on October 13. The competition has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in 2015 and has turned out to be a very lucrative opportunity for players all around the world.
The league also has seen the cream of overseas players take part in this league. It gives players exposure and experience in an elite setup, being able to share the dressing room with some of the best players in the world. It also allows overseas players to acclimatise to the Australian conditions. Speaking of the current season, there are some exciting teams with exciting players, contesting for the coveted trophy.
Here are the top three teams who are the favourites to lift the WBBL 2022-23 trophy:
Sydney Sixers

Sydney Sixers are the first team to win fifty matches in the league. They have two titles to their credit as well, and they have appeared in four consecutive championship deciders. They have been the most successful WBBL side as of now. They have had the cream of Australian cricket play for them such as the likes of Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, and Ashleigh Gardner.
Sixers have had wonderful overseas marquee signings as well such as the likes of Dane van Niekerk, Shafali Verma, Radha Yadav, and Sophie Ecclestone.
Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Renegades had three below-par seasons in the first three editions of the league. In the 2018- 19 and in 2019-2020 edition, they were in fourth place in both these seasons. Their best performance in the WBBL came in the 2021-22 edition when they came second in the points table.
Renegades also had the best players from Australia play for the franchise such as Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham, and Molly Strano. Their big foreign signings were Chamari Atapattu, Shabnim Ismail, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur.
Brisbane Heat

The Brisbane Heat have won back-to-back championships in WBBL 4 and 5 which took place in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. They also made two semifinal appearances in 2016-2017 and in 2020-2021.
Some of the notable Australians to represent the Heat are Beth Mooney, Jess Jonassen, and Grace Harris. And some of the high-profile overseas names that have played for them have been Deandra Dottin, Kate Cross, Amelia Kerr, Nadine de Klerk and Smriti Mandhana.
