After having a decent Indian T20 Leauge campaign for the Delhi franchise, Chetan Sakariya is now busy with Zalawad Royals in the second edition of the Saurashtra Premier League. The pacer started the tournament with a bang as he bowled a triple wicket maiden over against Halar Heros on Sunday (5 June 2022).
Sakariya ended the match with three wickets in two overs by conceding only three runs. He also bowled a maiden over. His devastating spell was enough to defeat Halar Heroes by 55 runs.
Batting first, Zalawad Royals managed to score only 135 runs in 20 overs, and lost six wickets in the process. Their top-order failed to register any big scores. However, the lower-order batters contributed some important runs to reach that total. Despite posting a below-par score, their bowlers started brilliantly and that helped them to restrict the opponent to 80 runs in 15.3 overs only. Apart from Sakariya’s three wickets, Parth Bhut (2/22) and Samar Gajjar (2/18) also helped in defending that small target with ease.

Speaking about Sakariya’s special over, it was just his second over in the match. On the first ball of the same, he took the wicket of Snell Patel. In the next ball, he bowled a beautiful outswinger to Arpit Vasavada and he got out to the slips. Sakariya took the third wicket in the same over in the form of Kunal Karamchandani. Ultimately, he ended with three wickets in that over without conceding a single run. This over rattled the whole middle order of Halar Heroes as they never really got back in the game post this.
Sakariya will look to continue the form to get a comeback call from the National Selectors, ahead of this year’s mega-event in Australia. After grabbing this huge win, Zalawad Royals are currently at the top spot in this year’s table with two wins out of three matches. Meanwhile, Halar Heroes are struggling at the fourth spot by winning only a single match out of two.
